My First Blog Post And A Textured Thank You.

Oh my goodness this is my first blog post as a member of the WOW team and I have to say I'm absolutely thrilled to be here. It's very nerve-wracking to be delivering my first official post but at the same time I'm so very excited.

Let me introduce myself, I'm Jaine and I'm hoping to help inspire you with my own way of creating and my own style.

One thing I absolutely love in my work is texture. The inspiration for the background to this card  came when I was looking for a gift in a local flower shop and spotted a gorgeous embossed metal box with copper foiling over the embossing. The texture and shiny copper was gorgeous. It was quite distressed and not totally perfect which I also found beautiful. I held the image in my mind until I could try out something similar at home.

For the background to my card base I used texture paste and a stencil to create the raised design. Once that was dry I painted it over with two colours of acrylic paint blending them into one another.

That had to be totally dry before I could move on to the foiling stage and taking a piece of foam I lightly tapped the embossing ink onto the textured surface and I mean lightly. I didn't want ink all over or in the cracks too much.

I sprinkled the bonding powder over the surface then took a soft brush and brushed some of it off again especially any which had stuck to the flat card surface.

The bonding powder was heated up to melt it and the foil placed shiny side up over the molten powder. I rubbed the surface with my fingers until all of the powder was covered.

The shiny copper foil is just stunning I think.

To finish off the card I cut three hearts from card and used some of the new powder colours which are coming out this season as they co-ordinated so very well. I took Metaline Flame regular, Metaline 1st Frost regular and Metaline Greengage regular which are gorgeous colours I know you're going to love.  The thanks comes from the "Just Saying" stamp set and was mounted onto some copper card along with the background. I added more texture and dimension by layering up the hearts with some 3d gel and I'm really pleased with how it looks.

I hope you like the texture as much as I do and give it a go for yourselves.
